Bringing fans together across borders

THE CHALLENGE:

The MLB wanted to broaden the horizon of baseball. That’s why they started the classic back in 2006. Baseball’s global popularity pales in comparison, however, to sporting events like the World Cup and the Cricket World Championships. We needed to come up with modern, inclusive, and inventive ways to get the word out about the games and to get fans from nearly twelve different countries excited about the game of baseball.

THE SOLUTION:

World Baseball Fan Fest

During the several weeks the games were broadcast, we used technological marvels to bring fans together. We created digital portals where fans could interact and communicate digitally, interactive OOH boards where fans could win other team’s swag, in stadium app experiences so fans could track the games from the stands half way around the world, and created the very first AI robotic pitch tracker that painted a real-time portrait of each pitch thrown by each team; bringing fans closer than ever, even if they couldn’t physically be there to support their team.
